Gulmarg is a hill station cum skiing resort situated in the Pir Panjal Range of western Himalayas. It has an elevation of 2650m from sea level. It is famous for it’s vast meadows, pine and deodar forests and natural springs. It lies within the boundaries of the Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary.
Why visit Gulmarg?
There are a lot of reasons why you should visit Gulmarg. I’ll mention a few of them here!
Skiing: Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasonal pro. Gulmarg provides a magnificent destination to enjoy yourself on the ski ploughs. Right from December all up to end of April, you can enjoy skiing here.
Snow Boarding: Gulmarg receives an average of 14 meters of snow every winter. That means it provides an opportunity for a wide variety of snow based adventure activities. Snowboarding is one of those sports that you can enjoy here with ample opportunities for people with all levels of skill.
Snow Biking: If you’re somebody who doesn’t like the thrill of skiing, then fear not as you’ll still be able to enjoy snow biking here. There’s enough equipment to enjoy yourself.
ATV Rides: ATV Rides are quite popular when it comes to Gulmarg. Many people travel just to be able to enjoy ATV rides on snow in winter and lush green mountains in summer.
Golfing: If you love golf or ever wanted to play it. Then you’ll be pleased to know that Gulmarg is home to the highest Green Golf Course by altitude in the whole world.
Gondola: The Gulmarg Gondola is the highest ropeway by altitude in the whole world. It has an impressive length of more than 6 kilometres. The experience is one of a kind for the riders of this ropeway.
Muslim Pandit: This one will for sure be a unique experience. It’s only in Gulmarg that you’ll be able to meet the world’s only Muslim Pandit who is a prime example of the secular fabric of Kashmir.
