That’s a really weird, but an interesting question some people have about Gulmarg and in this short blog post, I’ll try to clear the doubt regarding this!

First things first!

Gulmarg is part of the Indian Kashmir and not in Pakistan as some people believe. Infact, despite being a border resort, the border is still too far  away possibly 50+ Kilometers. Some people are confused as the Pir Panjal Range on a map seems too much of a small area. Anyways, the point is that “Gulmarg” is in India and not Pakistan.

Why the doubt then about Gulmarg?

It’s only because of politics as well as a lack of geographical knowledge. Both India and Pakistan claim the Kashmir Valley in full and as a result some people get confused. So don’t worry about it!

How do you visit Gulmarg then?

It’s via Srinagar. Once in Srinagar you’ll have to make  journey by road!
